How it works

PROTOTYPE RULES

Hold the Crown when the game ends.

  1. 1

    Draw

Draw one Character card into your small, secret hand.

  2. 2

    Claim

Play a card face-down and name the Character you claim it is. Truth is optional.

  3. 3

    Challenge

Any opponent may call the bluff before the ability resolves. Somebody will discard for being wrong.

  4. 4

    Take the Crown

Use abilities, survive attacks and hold the physical Crown when the game ends.

KING is actively being balanced. The six Characters and current powers define the prototype; copy counts and exact balance may change. If the deck runs out, equalize turns and the Crown holder wins. The last remaining player also wins immediately.

What makes it fun

Get the Crown. Try to keep it. Everyone else has other plans.

The Crown is the target

It shows exactly who is winning and gives everyone else the same bad idea.

Every claim is a decision

Tell the truth, bluff safely or dare someone to challenge you.

Small hand. Big tells.

Limited information turns every pause, claim and challenge into evidence.

Fast rematches

The deck is compact, eliminations are quick and the Crown is ready to cause trouble again.

Current prototype

Real rules. Still playtesting.

KING — 8KNIGHT — 7ASSASSIN — 6SPY — 5GUARD — 4THIEF — 3

These are the current roles, units and effects. Early visual mockup text may differ; the written rules on this page take priority while balance is refined.

Prototype components for KING

What’s in the prototype

Everything earns its spot.

  • Compact Character deck — exact distribution still balancing
  • KING 8 / KNIGHT 7 / ASSASSIN 6 / SPY 5 / GUARD 4 / THIEF 3
  • 1 physical gold Crown token
  • Player-aid cards
  • Quick-start / rule card

Counts and balance reflect the current written prototype. Final production details may change after playtesting.

A SMALL GAME FOR BIG EGOS.

Apparently one tiny crown is enough to ruin several friendships.
